Read this correctly
Every figure on this site is the publisher's own, taken from Statistics Canada — Consumer Price Index, annual average (Table 18-10-0005) and dated 2025. Where the agency publishes no figure, the cell is left empty and the page says so — it is never drawn as a zero.
Nothing here ranks a place as better or worse than another. It is the record, and the record is the only thing this site has an opinion about.
The Consumer Price Index for the cities Statistics Canada measures and the product groups it measures them by, as annual averages — all-items, food, shelter, energy and the rest — so the cost of living can be read for a place rather than for a country.
